# Editing an Avail Lease?

I’ve created a new lease. All parties have signed. It is finalized in the Avail system and one of the tenants noticed her number and address needed updating. Is there a way to edit the lease (which starts in 25 days (nov 1st. )) or… would I have to scrap it and redo a new lease. So far my attempts are pointing to scrapping and making a new one. Can you save me from this action.?

What you can and can’t do: you can’t really change the existing signed lease. You can copy it within Avail and send it with a notation that it replaces/updates the existing lease signed on whatever date (all parties sign the new lease).
Or you can do a simple addendum that updates the tenants address and is noted to specifically replace that section of your existing lease. both parties sign \> boom it’s all good.
Not sure how your original lease was written, but within the lease there should be a clause that describes how both parties can update the current lease. There should be a section that also describes how the parties update each other’s addresses if they should change. A typical lease would say something like “the party will notify the other party _insert more legaleez_ in writing within 30 days of changing addresses”. If that’s written into your lease you can simply update it with them typing an email or mailing you a signed letter. It gets attached to the original lease and you’re all done.
